Vote Counting for Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir Elections Set for October 8

The counting of votes for the recently held Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections is scheduled for October 8, starting at 8 AM. Election officials and party agents will arrive at counting centers by 5 AM, with briefings completed by 6 AM. The counting will begin with postal ballots designated for specific groups, including persons with disabilities and security personnel, followed by votes from Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Early trends are expected by midday, with clearer results likely by late afternoon. This election is particularly significant for Jammu & Kashmir, as it is the first since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, which altered the region’s special status and divided it into Union Territories.
