West Bengal Crisis Deepens: Governor Boycotts Chief Minister Amidst Scandal

Mamta Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in hot water following a scandal involving the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The state’s Governor, C.V. Anand Bose, has escalated the situation by announcing a social boycott of Banerjee. In a video message, Bose declared that no state employee would share a stage with the Chief Minister and that he would avoid public events with her, focusing solely on his constitutional duties. Bose criticized the state government for failing its responsibilities and vowed to maintain his boycott until justice is served. In response, Banerjee offered to resign if it would resolve the crisis and apologized for the inability to reinstate the doctors. The crisis underscores a growing rift between West Bengal’s administration and its Governor.
